Saturday started off slow, dragged myself around the house doing menial house chores when all i wanted to do was sleep. but i knew the only time i have to clean up the place is during the weekends, so i sucked it up and cleaned.
went to gym a little bit later than usual, around 5ish, in order to finish on time for dinner and drinks with 2 longtime friends of mine from college.
So i finished gymming at 7, went to my car..while happily humming to my favourite song. little did i know about the the turn of events that were to take place very soon after!
so i drove to the exit, wound down (technicality aside, it's a power window) the window, inserted the parking ticket and drove right out. once outside i realised that it was raining...so i immediately hit the button that was supposed to bring it up again....but of course...why would things work perfectly for me right......horror of horrorss....the freaking thing wouldnt budge..a tiny bit...
WHAT THE HELL?!???
in mere seconds the entire right part of me was wet...drenched! ...just...awesomeness....thank god there was a gas station nearby so i swerved right in and stopped at one of the kiosks.
I pressed the button with my left hand and tried to pull the glass window up with my right, but again it wouldnt budge at all. like..gosh...how can it suddenly die on me like that!?? lol ...like all of a sudden without a warning... ON A RAINY DAY!!!!??? i swear i'm having the worst of luck these few weeks.
I would've been so depressed if it werent for my 2 frens lol...i called them up...they were already at the restaurant we were supposed to meet up at ...but they came in a matter of minutes!...so there we were...in Caltex Tg Tokong...taking turns to yank the stupid window. All the time laughing and gooffing around looking like a bunch of idiots high on drugs.
when it finally dawned on us that the window wouldnt budge no matter how hard we yank from all possible angles...the rain had been reduced to a harmless drizzle. So we drove around looking for a workshop...on a saturday nite can you imagine that. We stopped by a few that we came across but they claimed that they dont do windows. We called everyone on our phonebooks asking if they knew of any mechanic who works on a saturday nite...none knew of any...EXCEPT...my fren Alex's ex-boss. but there's a catch...the workshop that she recommended does ONLY VOLVOs!!! and i drive a freakin proton!!!! Just the thought of driving my car into the workshop had us laughing like crazy hyenas.
So we decided to drive around a little bit more looking for other workshops before we actually went there. Gave up 30 minutes later when we decided that we're way too hungry already lol. So we went looking for the Volvo mechanics. Apparently they have a workshop which is attached to the Mobil gas station in P.Tikus.
So we found the workshop about 20 minutes later....true enough...they only specialiazes in Volvos!! There were like 10 Volvos old and new all cramped into the small compound.....we got down from our cars, looked at each other and laughed somemore. I was so sure they were just gonna chase us away with broomsticks...but surprisingly...the two uncles who manage the place were really nice people. I think it's my fren Char who worked her stuff on them lol. They agreed to take a look at my beat-up proton, after they've had their dinner. They said that they hadnt had anything since lunch and they were just too hungry to continue to work anymore. we were absolutely fine with taht because we were extremely hungry too so i left my car at the workshop and hopped into alex's car to look for food.
So the hunt for food began. We stopped by a few decent places along Gurney drive and P.Tikus area but the places were all crazy crowded...some of them didnt even have parking spaces left! We must've gone round the Gurney block a few hundred times looking for parking spaces lol. In the end i suggested that we go to this new Korean place in Tg.Tokong and both of them agreed.
We didnt have to wait long for a table becuase it was already 9++ and ppl were starting to leave. We quickly ordered a bugolgi and some octopus in red paste..and of course kimchi! Agreeing that we need alcohol ASAP we told the cute waiter we wanted 3 bottles of beer. We thought they were gonna serve us kind of korean beer or something so when the waiter brought us Tiger beer we were like...erm do you have anything else..korean? And he recommended the rice wine..and we were like ..okay..we'll get 3 bottles of those lol ...and I swear his eyeballs grew so big i thought we accidentally said something obscene in korean or something. apologizing ..he explained that he thought that 3 bottles were a little bit too much for the 3 of us so he recommended we try just one bottle first. and BLESS HIM.....the freaking thing was pretty strong!!! we were high after a few shots!..from rice wine!!?? lol...they served it in cute glasses slightly larger than your average shot glasses. We had alot of fun there teasing each other mercilessly as always...the food was awesome..we kept asking them the re-fill the side dishes. they were really yummy!
left slightly after 10:30 to pick up my car. When we reached the garage...the two uncles were already working on my car...they were really nice people..bless them.....they brought out chairs for us to sit on while waiting...so we sat and smoked and bitched somemore.
They were done 15 minutes later and after making sure that I understand that I was not to wind down my window in 3 different dialects (i think we stank of korean rice wine maybe?) ...they let us go and charged me only rm10 for service! (they didnt have the proton spare parts so they just lifted the glass up and put it in place again temporarily) lol.
Deciding that it's too early to head home...we decided to drop by Bagan for somemore drinks..yay! I always have an awesome relaxing time in Bagan....and that night was no different. The lady sang some of my favourites songs by ella fitzgerald so i was really happy :)
so there you go...i had the worst day. I was drenced. My hair was ruined. I had simple but good food. Good drinks. Good music. wonderful company. and an awesome night! I needed my mind to be off work...I needed to de-stress and saturday gave me that in the most unexpected and disguised way :)
