Parfum

Many many years ago, an edition of the National Geographic came with a perfume patch....a scent supposedly worn by Egyptian queen Nefertiti...constructed based on writings found on ancient papyrus scrolls excavated in Egypt.

I had always been attracted to that edition, although I dont think it was really my favourite...I dont remember anything else about the issue except for the patch. Dog-eared and musky after a few years, I still flipped it open whenever I came across it....lightly inhaling the intoxicating scent from the past and from a world not my own.

I'd forgotten about that edition...until just now in the office pantry....I thought I caught a whiff of it....faint....but it was there...for a few seconds and then it was gone.
